What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure and a slightly modified version of the traditional facelift. The surgery is performed to lift and tighten loose, sagging skin around the lower face and upper neck.

What Should I Expect During the Surgery?

If you’re considering undergoing a mini facelift, you can begin by scheduling a consultation with Dr. Stephens. This meeting will be your chance to discuss the procedure and ask any questions you have about the process. Dr. Stephens will ask you about your hopes and goals for the treatment and use that information to put together a personalized treatment plan.

Typically, a mini facelift is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. Once you’re asleep, Dr. Stephens will carefully make small incisions around your ears and hairline. He will then make adjustments to your underlying facial tissue and, if necessary, remove excess tissue. Finally, he’ll close your incisions with sutures and apply bandages. On average, a mini facelift takes between one and two hours to complete, and you should be able to return home a few hours after the surgery.

Who Is a Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

Adults who are unsatisfied with loose and/or sagging skin around their lower face and neck may be good candidates for a mini facelift. You could be an ideal candidate if you meet these requirements:

  • Have loose and/or sagging skin around the neck and lower face that you’d like lifted and tightened
  • Be in good physical health
  • Have reasonable expectations
  • Do not have an excessive amount of loose skin (otherwise, you may need a traditional facelift)

Recovery After Mini Facelift

After your mini facelift, you’ll need to keep your stitches in for at least 10 days before having them removed. You may experience some swelling and bruising after the surgery, and you’ll need to rest quite a bit for one to two weeks. After around 10 to 14 days, you should be able to resume your normal routine and return to work. However, it’ll be important to avoid high-intensity physical activity for at least a month.
